von Braun´s Review
Unusual classic icon from Jaguar found after 33 years in storage! This Jaguar Coupe was a so-called "barn find". It had been stored in a garage for 34 years before it was taken to von Braun Sports Cars a few years ago by the owner. The mission of von Braun was to go through the car and make it drivable and in a traffic-capable condition. After extensive and very costly renovation work, the car was approved at inspection inspection in April 2020. Today the car is tax exempt in Sweden and it will also be inspection exempt for all future from 2025.
The XJ Coupe with "short wheel base" was only manufactured between 1975-1977. It was based on the XJ Series II but had a vinyl clad coupe roof without a B-pillar. Only 1855 copies (!) Of this classic model have left the Jaguar factory with V12. The engine volume is 5.3 liters. Of these, about 1300 are said to have been left-controlled and thus less than 600 pieces were manufactured as right-handed! This makes this car an incredible rarity that is considered a holy grail among Jaguar collectors. When the car was 11 years old (1986) the car was imported to Sweden from England. In connection with the registration in Sweden, the speedometer was changed from mileage scale to mileage scale. Information on total actual mileage is missing and the current meter position of only 775 km (77mil) shows the mileage since it came to Sweden. The car has been left unused in a dry and nice garage since 1987. After standing still for over 30 years, the technicians at von Braun Sports Cars have done an overall review of the car. The interior with carpets and leather has been renovated to the newest condition. The engine and fuel system has received a major review, including new spreader specially manufactured in the USA, new gasoline tanks and spark plugs and overall service. The brakes are refurbished with new caliper. The exhaust system is new. Other functions have been serviced and checked. The body paintwork has been polished. The paintwork in British Racing Green has some brands but generally looks very glossy and nice. The vinyl roof is in good condition. Chromed details such as rims and bumpers are probably in original condition. They are shiny and free of rust but not in a new condition. Most of these cars are now probably gone forever. It is estimated that there are 50-100 XJ 5.3C left in the world. This is the car for those who are inclined to classic Jaguars and want more than a regular Jaguar XJ.
