von Braun´s Review

The first generation Corvette - C1, had undergone several changes and updates since its launch in 1953. 1961 is perhaps one of the most beautiful and with Fuel Injection definitely one of the most desirable. The old design language from the 1950s was modernized during the model year with a brand new rear section whose lines would follow Corvette through the next generation 2. 1961 is the last year that the concave body section on the side was surrounded by a chrome strip and could be ordered in a contrasting color. It is also the last year with a 283 CUI (4638 cc) V8 engine was delivered in Corvette. In the base version, the engine had a simple four-barrel carburetor and it delivered 230 BHP (Gross Horse Power). With hydraulic camshaft and dual four-barrel carburettors, the same engine delivered 245 BHP. With dual four-barrel carbs and a mechanical camshaft 270 BHP. The strongest engine variants were equipped with the modern Ramjet Fuel Injection and "Mickey Mouse" cylinder heads. The fuel injection engine could also be ordered in two versions - with hydraulic camshaft 275BHP or mechanical camshaft 315 BHP, which corresponds to about 320 hp. This Corvette is equipped with the most powerful Fuel Injection engine. The engine options which have mechanical camshaft can be revealed by red marking at 6500 rpm on the tachometer, while the hydraulic red marks are already at 5500 rpm. The car we offer here is a well maintained original car. It only appears to be easily renovated cosmetically. The engine block have the correct casting number but do not appear to originate from the car originally. The chassis is very fine and completely untouched without major signs of corrosion or damage. The 4-speed Borg Warner T10 was aluminum in 1961 but the stick shift is not original. The car is generally authentic with surface treatments, finishes and marking of bolt heads. In 1961 there was originally assembled diagonal tires, often with a wide white wall. This car has more modern radial tires with a narrow white wall, which makes it a little better to drive but not as elegant in nature. It has been equipped with Hardtop from the factory and lacks a convertible top. Meter position cannot be guaranteed. The car has been standing still for a while and has not been started in a few years. von Braun Sports Cars will therefore review and service the car so that it can be delivered newly serviced and newly inspected to the next owner.
