von Braun´s Review
The opportunity has now arisen to acquire a 1982 Ferrari 512 BBi. This is not only a motoring icon thanks to its flat-twelve engine and analogue sensation — this particular example was displayed at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena between 2015 and 2016. The car also belonged to the private and very well-known car collection of Prince Rainier III of Monaco. Among the documents accompanying the car is a letter from Prince Albert II of Monaco thanking the owner for allowing the car to be exhibited. A very classic and desirable colour combination of Rosso Corsa paired with a beige interior. 2 keys, owner's manual and a substantial collection of documents accompany the car.
In 2009 at 34,525 km, the car was taken to The Ferrari Centre in England for a full inspection and overhaul of the engine and gearbox, replacement of cam belts and tensioners, valve adjustment and replacement of camshaft seals, refurbishment of the water pump while the engine was dismantled, inspection of the cooling system, brakes, AC, chassis and wheels, at a total cost of £11,987. Two years later, at 37,387 km, further major work was carried out at V12 Automobile in France, including replacement of camshaft bearings, crankshaft bearings, cam belts and auxiliary belts, along with a major service, at a total cost of €11,100. In December 2025, at 39,983 km, the car underwent a comprehensive updated service at Garage Des Moneghetti in France, including replacement of cam belts and spark plugs, as well as a gearbox flush.
The car presents in very fine original condition, and in 2015 Jean-Pierre Cornu praised the Ferrari specifically for its originality. These well-maintained, low-mileage classics are becoming increasingly rare. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that these early 12-cylinder mid-engined cars will retain the same modest price tags they have commanded over the past 10 years.
